Surfing is a great spectator sport, especially when you’re in Tahiti. Every year, the small village of Teahupo’o is the setting for one of the World Surf League’s most thrilling championship events (on both the men and women’s tours), thanks to some truly monstrous waves arising in a select spot. It’s a remote location but well worth seeking out for the thrills and the scenery.
