Wonderhatch worked with Ogilvy UK to advertise LEGO’s newest release in collaboration with SEGA – the Sonic Green Hill Zone. Based on Ogilvy’s request for a ‘build along campaign film’ our creative director Patrick developed a fun concept featuring two influencers from the gaming world: Ali-A and Alysia Judge. Whilst having the opportunity to build this intricate new set, the influencers are exploring their personal gaming roots, how they experienced Sonic back in the 90s and how they think the legendary hedgehog as managed to make the jump from the 8-bit world to modern games and ultimately into the world of LEGO.
Structurally the promo is set in a LEGO workshop environment. The goal was to create a film set that consists of 1) a nostalgic 90s gaming living room 2) a memorabilia section that celebrates LEGO and Sonic 3) the hero table serving as the main ’stage’. The video starts in the living room which we built from the ground up, with our influencers playing the original SONIC game on the mega drive. Memory lane extravaganza! After this quick into, the duo then transitions to the workshop table to build the Green Hill Zone set and start the Q and A. Wonderhatch managed the whole production from beginning to end, including a full set build, in close collaboration with Ogilvy’s client and creative team.
